Darebin City Council Elections 2012

With Council elections being run on Saturday 27th October 2012, many publications are running guides, commentary and comments.

Our local Darebin elections are no exception. VOTERS are being urged to find out more about their council candidates before they vote in this month’s elections. Municipal Association of Victoria chief executive Rob Spence said it was crucial for voters to be informed about what candidates stood for, on a range of issues.

  • DADA (Darebin Appropriate Developmemnt Association) does not have preferences and invites voters to view individual statements and general election information before voting.

2012 Council Elections

2012 Council Elections Victorian Councils will hold elections on Saturday, 27 October 2012. Council elections can be conducted by either attendance voting or postal voting. Each Council decides on the method of which the elections will be held.

The 2012 Darebin City Council elections will be conducted by postal voting as per previous Darebin elections. Voting Ballot packs will be mailed to enrolled voters from Tuesday, 9 October. Your completed ballot paper must be in the hands of the Returning Officer by 6.00 pm on Friday, 26 October 2012.

Darebin City Council 2012 General Election Darebin City Council will be conducting a postal election for its general election. This means that everyone on the voters roll on Friday, 31 August 2012, will automatically have ballot packs mailed to them from 9-11 October.

Upon receipt of your ballot pack, you should complete your ballot paper and return it so that it is in the hands of the Returning Officer by 6.00 pm on Friday, 26 October, at which time voting closes. There is no voting on Saturday, 27 October for a postal election. The election office for Darebin City Council is located at 1A/99 Bell Street, Preston and is open to the public and candidates.

The Returning Officer for the Darebin City Council general election is Mike King. The contact number for the election office is (03) 9416 7019.

Lost/damaged/not received Postal ballot pack

As ballot packs are mailed randomly to voters, some members of the household may receive theirs ahead of the delivery of others. If you have not received your ballot pack by Wednesday, 17 October, please call us on (03) 9416 7019 to order a replacement ballot pack.

You may also order a replacement ballot pack if you received and then misplaced your ballot pack or accidentally damaged it. Please call us on (03) 9416 7019 to request a new pack.

You can request a replacement ballot pack up until the last day of voting (Friday, 26 October), however from Thursday, 25 October you will have to physically attend the election office to collect, complete and return your ballot pack (see top of page for election office address).
